Data publications from the Cluster of Excellence 3D Matter Made to Order (3DMM2O). The Cluster is a collaboration of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Heidelberg University. It pursues an interdisciplinary approach through conjunction of natural, engineering, and social sciences. 3DMM2O establishes scalable digital 3D Additive Manufacturing transcending from the molecular to the macroscopic scale. The goal is the ultimate digitalization of 3D manufacturing and material processing.

Self-assemblies containing the nucleobase analogue 2,6-diacylaminopyridine (DAP) have been successfully prepared for the first time by aqueous seeded RAFT polymerization in high concentrations. For this purpose, a diblock copolymer containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and DAP p...

The functionalisation of peptides at a late synthesis stage holds great potential, for example, for the synthesis of peptide pharmaceuticals, fluorescent biosensors or peptidomimetics. Here we describe an on-resin iodination-substitution reaction sequence on homoserine that is al...

For microscale 4D photoresponsive actuators, light is crucial in two ways. First, the underlying additive manufacturing techniques rely on photopolymerization processes triggered by the absorption of light. Second, the absorption of light serves as the actuation stimulus. The two...

This report describes the application of cyanosulfurylide (CSY)-protected aspartatic acid building blocks in microwave-assisted synthesis of aggregation-prone protein domains. We present a synthesis of Fmoc-Asp(CSY)-OH on a multigram scale, as well as procedures for the microwave...

In the pursuit to produce functioning synthetic cells from the bottom up, DNA nanotechnology has proven to be a powerful tool. However, the crowded yet highly organized arrangement in living cells, bridging from the nano- to the micron-scale, remains challenging to recreate with...

To achieve a highly symmetric triptycene based hexamethoxytriphenylene in high yield of 97 %, a less symmetric triptycene (C3v) is necessary as precursor for cyclodehydrogenative Scholl-type oxidation, by taking into account the regioselectivity of the C-C bond formation controll...

Shape-persistent trinuclear Ni(II)- and Pt(II)-cage compounds with large cavities have been synthesized by using bissalicylaldehyde struts that contain the metal salphen units already. The Pt(II) derivative was investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction.

The natural function of many proteins depends on their ability to switch their conformation driven by environmental changes. In this work, we present a small, monomeric β-sheet peptide that switches between a molten globule and a folded state through Zn(II) binding. The solvent-e...
