Abstract:

This catalogue lists European costume books, albums or print series produced in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. As well as providing bibliographical data, the catalogue records known holdings of these works in the collections of different institutions. Hyperlinks to institutional catalogue entries and digitalized copies are provided.<br><br /> Repeat entries for single titles record the cases in which multiple printed copies are known to survive in different institutional collections.<br><br /> The catalogue is not a complete, exhaustive record yet provides researchers with a functional tool for finding and sourcing a large quantity of the costume material that characterised the visual culture of early modern Europe.
